BC Foundation Holiday Dinner : The Bakersfield College Foundation hosted its annual holiday dinner on December 14, 2006. Several people were honored, including Dr. Norm Levan and Phillip and Lisa Cerro. Ron Kean and the BC Choral singers provided entertainment and the culinary class served up an excellent dinner.

Thomas Planetarium Dedication : Bakersfield College dedicated the William M. Thomas Planetarium on Thursday, November 2, 2006. The planetarium was named for Congressman Bill Thomas who represents California's 22nd Congressional District. The planetarium originally opened in 1963 and had been using original equipment until the recent remodel. According to planetarium director Nick Strobel, "The planetarium now features a Chronos star projector from GOTO and a SciDome all-dome video system from Spitz installed under a new Spitz premium-seam 36-foot dome. Individual seating for 72 people all facing the same direction has also been installed."

Dr. Norman Levan Endowment : On September 13, 2006, there was a press conference at Bakersfield College to announce Dr. Norman Levan's endowment to BC in the amount of 5.7 million dollars. BGLAD Spaghetti Dinner : On November 18, 2006 BGLAD and the BC ASL Dept. hosted their 2nd annual spaghetti fundraising dinner. We had an excellent turnout with more than 100 tickets sold again this year, helping to raise funds for Deaf families in Kern County.

Deaf Basketball Tournament : On November 11, 2006, the BC Gym was home to a Deaf men's basketball tournament. Teams from as far south as San Diego and as far north as San Francisco competed for the top prize. Members of the Deaf community from all over Southern and Central California were on hand to cheer on their favorite teams.
